Eating Out

La Petite Ferme Wine & Food Experiences.

April 20, 2017

Could Franschoek be described as the darling of the Western Cape wine region? I think so. If you love spending your free time in fresh air, surrounded by beautiful vineyards, sipping fine wine & nibbling on great food, well best you read on & find out more about the La Petite Ferme Wine & Food Experiences – delicious dishes paired with both local & international wines at four exclusive events. The dinners will be taking place on the first Thursday of every month from May to August.

Winter days & nights are quickly heading our way. That’s OK though because nothing soaks up the cold quite like a luscious food & wine experience. Each dinner is distinctly different from the others & will be hosted by La Petite Ferme’s talented winemaker, Wikus Pretorius.

During the course of each evening, Wikus will begin with a showcase tasting of four wines – one from La Petite Ferme; two from other local Cape winelands terroirs; & one international. All the wines on the evening will be the same cultivar, providing an opportunity to compare different expressions & the effect of terroirs & techniques.

On 4 May, Viognier takes centre-stage. Traditional to France’s northern Rhone valley, the cultivar is known for its delicate acidity, dryness & varied expressions.

On 8 June, it’s the turn of Chardonnay, a bold grape loved by many.

The dinner of 6 July is dedicated to what many consider the king of reds – Cabernet Sauvignon. Famous as a full-bodied wine, it is nonetheless capable of delicacy & elegance in skilled hands.

The final dinner takes place on the 3rd of August & belongs to Cape & red blends. The dinner features La Petite Ferme’s own Verdict, a champion wine.

The tasting will be followed by a three-course food-and-wine spectacular, with dishes inspired by Wikus’ taste experiences from his world travels.

Tasting dinners are R750pp (starting at 18:30). Bookings are essential & early reservations are recommended.
